The Perth Wildcats hosted the New Zealand breakers on 17th January 2014 at the Perth Arena. It was the fourth time the Wildcats met the defending champions in the 2013/14 season, with the Wildcats taking the win in all three prior games. However the Perth Wildcats didn’t do it easy in those three games – having won by a combined 20 points across all three games.
This was the last time the New Zealand Breakers were to make the trip to the Perth Arena in the regular season, and given their standing on the ladder it was likely the last time for 2013/14.
The Cats shot out of the blocks and posted a 28 – 15 point first quarter lead. There was no stopping the Cats from there, leading at every change and taking the win at 97 points to New Zealand’s 72 points.
Shawn Redhage top scored for the home side with 24 points, followed by import Jermaine Beal on 19 and James Ennis on 15. For the Breakers Gary Wilkinson top scored with 21 points.
Below are some of the images from the night. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. If you haven’t been to the Perth Arena this season to watch the Cats, do yourself a favour and get down to a game. The season is almost out and this may just be the year that the Cats bring the NBL championship back to Perth.
Here is how the night unfolded from the per-game entertainment all the way through to the last buzzer and post game celebrations.
